live. love. serve.
what we believe.
It's more than just a pithy statement. It's a movement. A way of life. And it's what we're all about.
CrossBridge @ is a new faith community whose purpose is to be a strong presence for Christ in our communities.
We are committed to being intentional and invitational, and practicing meeting people where they are on their spiritual journey. We want to move them closer to their relationship with God, and each other.
We are geared toward connecting with people who have been bored, bruised or bludgeoned by the church, and we’re committed to honoring people in their various stages of life. So regardless of whether you’re new to the faith or a seasoned veteran, a teenager or getting mail from the AARP, whether you are married, single, divorced, or just waiting, whether you have kids, want kids or are enjoying an empty nest, you are welcome at CrossBridge @!
Our core team includes our pastor, Christy Dirren, as well as Bonnie, Justin, and Tiffany. We have a handful of folks in our support team, but are always looking for more!
We always are in need of folks who are willing to be present, participate, pray, plan, prepare, or provide!

We believe in God, the Father Almighty
Creator of the heavens and the earth;
Creator of all peoples and all cultures;
Creator of all tongues and races.
We believe in Jesus Christ, his Son, our Lord,
God made flesh in a person for all humanity,
God made flesh in one culture for all cultures,
God made flesh in love and grace for all creation.
We believe in the Holy Spirit
Through whom God incarnate in Jesus Christ
Makes his presence known in our peoples and our cultures;
Through whom, God Creator of all that exists,
Gives us power to become new creatures;
Whose infinite gifts make us one people: the body of Christ.
We believe in the Church
Whose faithfulness is shown in its many hues
Where all the colors paint a single landscape,
Where all tongues sing the same praise.
We believe in the Reign of God – the day of the Great Fiesta
When all the colors of creation will form a harmonious rainbow,
When all peoples will join in joyful banquet,
When all tongues of the universe will sing the same song.
And because we believe, we commit ourselves:
To believe for those who do not believe,
To love for those who do not love,
To dream for those who do not dream,
Until the day when hope becomes reality.

q. what's with the name?
a. Our new faith community is called CrossBridge @ because many times in life we have to discover or build bridges to cross from one experience to another. We are focused on meeting people where they are on their spiritual journey and together, cross chasms and bridge gaps by building relationships based upon the Good News of Christ.
q. what is a "faith based community"?
a. To us, a faith community is a place where anyone (anyone!) can come, be loved, and welcomed with open arms. It's a place where we can connect with God, each other, our CrossBridge community, and the world through authentic missions and relationships. By connecting in these ways with our community, we believe we can experience God's love and grace, and be transformed.
q. what if I'm not sure about my faith?
a. You are not alone. At CrossBridge @, we don't claim to know all the answers. Not even close. But we believe there is power (and fun!) in wrestling with the questions. Questioning and wrestling with God is healthy and biblical. Just look at Genesis 32:22-26, Psalm 22 and the entire book of Job! This is all to say that we're still figuring things out too. And there are days when we will wander and question and wrestle. And that's okay. It's healthy.
q. what makes you different then other churches?
a. Many churches seem to say one thing and do another. "We love you, but ..." At CrossBridge, we believe in a love with no strings attached. Everyone means everyone. We are open and affirming, and we want to share that with our community. Whatever stuff you bring, whatever baggage you carry, we carry it too. And God loves you anyway. And so do we.
We're are committed to deep listening. We want to hear stories, and in hearing those stories, we believe we will hear God speaking. Mutual fascination leads to mutual transformation. We want to really live what we're saying. We want to be in our community – taking risks and living love. Sometimes love is messy. Sometimes it's really difficult. But it's so worth it. Love wins!

q. what affiliation does crossbridge have with the united methodist church?
a. CrossBridge is a United Methodist Faith Community. That means we are rooted in the theology of the United Methodist Church (which is a theology that is accepting, open-armed, and grace-filled). Does that mean you have to be United Methodist to be a part of CrossBridge? Absolutely not. CrossBridge welcomes anyone and everyone. Many in our faith community do not identify as United Methodists and some have never been to church. We like it that way! It keeps things spicy. We're all on this journey together. We really hope that you'll check us out and discover that CrossBridge is the place for you. For more on the United Methodist Church, click here.
q. why was crossbridge started?
CrossBridge is the result of the vision and faith of the existing congregation at Pioneer UMC. Through prayer and creative brainstorming they decided to bring in a pastor to serve them 1/4 time and to plant a new faith community 3/4 time.
In July 2014 a decision was made to split the two groups. CrossBridge is now it's own community with a full time pastor and based in the community, as opposed to a specific building.
q. how does crossbridge worship?
a. Worship looks and feels different at CrossBridge @ from what you might expect – some weeks in big ways and others in not-so-big ways. We typically meet in a local restaurant or someone's home. The service is in several parts. Each parts involves 2 or more of your 5 senses. We introduce the theme and scripture for the day, then take 10 minutes to write down questions or ideas and order dinner. The message is shared as dinner arrives and we eat. During the Explore and Experience time, there are opportunities to be creative, contemplative, conversant, and compassionate; anything that enhances our connection to each other and to God in worship. We have music in the back ground, sharing, a time to learn, to think, to struggle, and to connect. We also want you to feel like you are truly a part of worship – not just watching a show. The service ends with communion and a service project!
q. who can come to crossbridge?
a. Everyone. Everyone. Everyone. Everyone is welcome in this community. And that includes everyone. God says so! We are an open and affirming group of folks. No matter your age, background, gender, orientation, race, etc... YOU are welcome at CrossBridge @.
